Call For Papers

The Semantic Web is an extension of the current web in which information is given well-defined meaning, better enabling computers and people to work in cooperation.” --- Tim Berners Lee, James Hendler, and Ora Lassila, Scientific American, 2001
With only a few years, the rapid developing Web has led to revolutionary changes in the whole human society.  The fast improving applications of the Web in political and economic areas not only initiate large quantities of social and scientific exploration and practice, but also promote the innovative research on next generation web technology. The research and development of semantic web covers a number of global standards of Web and cutting edge technologies, such as: Linked Data,Social Semantic Web, Semantic Web Search, Smart Data integration, Semantic Web Mining and Web Scale Computing. After years of basic research and standardization work, the Semantic Web technology has made great progress. Nowadays, many scholars and experts are devoting them to the work of applying the Semantic Web theories into specific practice, while in turn improving the Semantic Web standards and technologies according to the demand in practice.
The 4th Chinese Semantic Web Symposium (CSWS 2010) will be held in Beijing during August 19-21, 2010. The first three symposiums are held by IBM China Research Lab, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Southeast University. CSWS 2010 will continue to work towards the objectives of the previous symposiums, which is to provide effective international academic exchange opportunities to the researchers, especially young scholars in Semantic Web and related areas. For this purpose, this symposium will present several forms of exchange activities, including invited lectures, plenary lectures, symposia, impromptu speeches, application presentations etc.
The theme of CSWS 2010 is “Web Science and Semantic Web”. Web Science involves full scope of Web-related researches and applications, and it integrates the Web-related interdisciplinary researches into a new field of scientific research. As an important part of the Web Science, the Semantic Web lays a foundation of knowledge representation, reasoning, exchange and reuse for the Web. This symposium aims to promote expansions from the Semantic Web to Web Science, and then to discuss the core technologies of Next Generation Web, such as the Web and swarm intelligence, a new generation of semantic search, semantic and Web security and so on.
The paper submission system of CSWS 2010 is adopted the Microsoft Conference Management Toolkit (CMT). The English papers accepted will be arranged to Tsinghua Science and Technology(indexed by EI), among which the excellent ones will have the oppotunity to be published on "Journal of Web Semantics" (indexed by SCI, impact Factor(in 2009): 3.412 ), while
the Chinese papers accepted will be pulished on Computer Science(《计算机科学》). Accepted papers require to report in the symposium, or the recommended qualifications will be lost. In addition, in order to facilitate exchange during the symposium, Conference Proceedings will be published online in advance.
The symposium will choose the best paper and the best student paper. Besides the symposium will reward the best poster and best demo
for encouraging the display and exchange of the Semantic Web achievement. All the papers of the poster and demo session accepted will be published online.

If you have any problem in submission, please send your paper to Jie TANG(jietang@tsinghua.edu.cn) directly.
